UK-based sync licensing company Cuesongs is joining forces with Creative music licensing agency Big Sync Music.
Big Sync Music, which claims to be “one of the fastest-growing global music agencies” works with brands such as Unilever, L’Oreal Luxe, and Google and many others
Big Sync was acquired by Santa Monica-based B2B music licensing marketplace Songtradr in 2019, in a multi-million dollar cash and equity transaction.
Cuesongs, which was originally founded by singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel and is known for its custom curated catalog, was acquired by Songtradr, in November 2020.
The two Songtradr-owned companies are now joining forces under the Big Sync Music name, with Cuesongs’ Justin “Commie” McMullen, Executive Creative Director and Lauren Thackray, Client Services Director, joining the Big Sync team.
According to a media release announcing the move, Cuesongs “will add a strong creative team to the Big Sync roster, as well as increase the service offerings to existing Cuesongs clients”.
In addition, according to the companies, the Cuesongs team “will be bringing their label relationships and a wealth of experience in music for digital, social and long-form content for TV, Film, Sports and Entertainment”.
Cuesongs is used by supervisors, producers, agencies, and content creators and its clients include the Premier League and Coty.
In 2021, the firm worked on BritBox’s new brand campaign as well as shows for Amazon and Netflix amongst others.
Its team is also working on several hip hop documentaries that will be released this year.
“Cuesongs’ catalog of work and the creative expertise they have in the licensing space aligns perfectly with the Big Sync brand.”
Dominic Caisley, Founder of Big Sync Music, said: “Cuesongs’ catalog of work and the creative expertise they have in the licensing space aligns perfectly with the Big Sync brand.
“With these two companies coming together, we are looking forward to seeing the impact we will make in all aspects of the music space – from original composition to sync licensing.”
“We’re looking forward to joining the Big Sync team.”
Justin “Commie” McMullen, Director of Music at Cuesongs, now Creative Director of Big Sync Music, added: “We’re looking forward to joining the Big Sync team.
“The caliber of clients they’ve worked on over the years is a testament to their work and the relationships they’ve built.”
