Apple’s music discovery app Shazam has added new concert discovery features. Here’s what’s new on deck.

When users ‘shazam’ a new song, they’ll be shown concert information and tickets on sale for upcoming shows nearby. Users can also explore an artists’ Shazam page to see more tour dates, times, and locations of upcoming events for that artist. The entire experience takes place inside the Shazam app.

“Shazam has a long history of innovation in music discovery and connecting artists and fans,” says Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music and Beats. “With the re-emergence of live music, we’re excited to give Shazam users access to concerts and bring even more discoverability to artists.”

Shazam’s new features are powered by Bandsintown, a powerful event recommendation and artist discovery platform.

“As live music returns, we’re on a mission to help artists get more visibility for their live shows,” says Fabrice Sergent, Managing Partner of Bandsintown. “Pent-up demand from fans eager to go back to concerts is being met by an unprecedented level of live shows from artists on tour.”

Shazam now has over 225 million monthly active users discovering one billion songs per month. Shazam has served up over 50 billion song recommendations since its inception. An artists’ popularity on Shazam can be a driving predictor for future hits.

The new concert pages are available on the Shazam iOS and Android apps, as well as Shazam.com. Artists can make their information available to Shazam via Bandsintown for Artists. They can access unique insights with Apple Music and Shazam audience insights on Apple Music for Artists.

OVer 560,000 artists and music professionals already use Bandsintown to manage their live performances. It’s an all-in-one platform that allows artists to build their audience, drive sales, manage their relationships with fans, and optimize marketing to those fans. There are 68 million registered users on the platform and it has a global reach of 250 million music fans monthly.
